Moldova has to implement the current EU Competition Directive by the end of the year, as part of its association with the EU. To support this process, the German Economic Team together with the Moldovan Competition Council organised a webinar “The European Competition Directive and its application to digital markets”.
The German Economic Team was able to recruit Wolfgang Jakobi and Dr. Fabien Pape, both from the German Federal Cartel Office, as external experts. The experts from the German Federal Cartel Office illustrated to the Moldovan colleagues the essential elements and considerations of the EU Competition Directive and its implementation in German competition practice and merger control. At the request of the Moldovan authorities, Dr. Paper also presented aspects of how to avoid market power and competition violations in digital markets.
The webinar is intended as a starting point for further support in the coming months in implementing the EU Competition Directive.
