On May 16, 2024, the German-Kosovar Business Association (KDWV) and the German Economic Team (GET) successfully hosted an event at Klan Arena in Pristina, focusing on improving Kosovo’s business climate. The event brought together key stakeholders to discuss the progress and future steps to enhance the business environment in Kosovo.

Distinguished guests included Jörn Rohde, German Ambassador to Kosovo, Dr. Norbert Schultes, Head of the Division for Institutional Partnerships and Government Consultancy at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, and Zef Dedaj, Acting General Director of KIESA, Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, and Trade of Kosovo.

The event featured a presentation of the study “Improving the Business Climate – Boosting Investment: Implementation Monitoring April 2024” by our experts Marie-Aimée Salopiata and Felix Schwickert. The study provides a detailed analysis of the progress made in implementing reforms for improving the business climate, which were identified based the views of businesses in a first study carried out at the end of 2022, including VAT refunds, solar panel installation, data protection, public-private dialogue, vocational training, and infrastructure.

The round table discussion, moderated by Naile Dema, was particularly engaging, with active participation from government representatives, diplomats, and local business leaders. This collaborative dialogue is crucial for aligning public sector reforms with business needs, ensuring that Kosovo can leverage its economic potential and attract more foreign investments.
