On November 14th the most recent edition of the online event series “Current economic situation and forecasts of economic development in Belarus” of the German Chamber of Commerce Abroad (AHK Belarus) took place. More than 60 representatives of various German governmental organisations and German companies in Belarus took part in the event.
Ms Andrea Wiktorin, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the German Embassy in Belarus, opened the event, emphasizing the need to maintain contacts, especially with civil society, within the framework of the sanctions regime, which is supported by all Member States of the European Union. She also highlighted the important role of the German Economic Team in preparing analyses and forecasts. These provide reliable data for representatives of German institutions and companies.
An example of the work of the German Economic Team is the Economic Monitor, presented by Robert Kirchner, which analyses the current situation and shows the prospects for the Belarusian economy. In the subsequent discussion, Robert Kirchner focused on the specifics of the Belarus’ consumption growth and its increasing dependence on Russia.
Note: All consultancy services provided to government agencies in Belarus as part of the project have been discontinued. We continue to provide general economic analyses of Belarus to users within the European Union.
