From the 4th to 6th December 2019 the 17th Minsk Forum, dedicated to the theme “The Place of Belarus in Europe. Chances for Foreign Policy, Economy, Civil Society and Culture”, was held in Minsk. The forum was organasied by the German-Belarusian Society e.V. (dbg).
Numerous high-ranking government representatives from Belarus and abroad took part in the event. On September 26, Robert Kirchner, Deputy Team Leader of the German Economic Team Belarus presented a new study on improving the business climate in Belarus at the event “10th Day of the German Economy” in Minsk. Twice a year, Berlin Economics hosts an event to report about current economic policy topics in the advisory work in Belarus.

On 23 January 2017 the six-monthly information meeting about high-level government consultation in Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova and Georgia was held at the Federal Ministry for Economy and Energy (BMWi). On 23 November there was a celebration at the IBB Minsk on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the “Manager training programme of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) with the Republic of Belarus”. The manager training programme prepares managers and manager trainees from Belarus for business cooperation with German enterprises.(more…)
On November 3 and 4 “Kastryčnicki Economic Forum” with focus on reforms for inclusive growth took place in Minsk. The Deputy Head of Presidential Administration, Mr. Nikolay Snopkov, opened the event with welcome speech. During the first day the global and regional economic development and their implications for the Belarusian economy were the focus of discussion. In this context, Robert Kirchner from the German Economic Team (GET) Belarus moderated a panel on structural reforms. The second day was mainly dedicated to the reform of state enterprises and their impact on the labor and financial markets.(more…)
On September 29 and 30 the Belarus Forum took place in Minsk. It is the first forum in Minsk, in which representatives of the state organs and international financial institutions participated together with private foreign investors, experts and Belarusian entrepreneurs. Discussions focused on topics like current aspects of investment cooperation and the draft of a roadmap. Other panel discussions dealt with public-private partnerships as a way to attract investors and the importance of the financial market for economic growth.(more…)

The Republican Center of Microfinance invited to the conference “Modern instruments of SME finance”, which was held in Minsk on 13 September. The conference was supported by USAID and organized in cooperation with the National Bank and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus. Experts and businessmen from Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Turkey, Russia, Armenia and Kazakhstan discussed different approaches of state support to small and medium enterprises. The panel “Guarantee funds as an effective tool of SME finance” was led by Ivan Koriakin (German Economic Team (GET) Belarus). The participants later on also considered the potential of crowdfunding and crowdsourcing (obtaining services from a large group of people, especially an online community) for the realization of business ideas.(more…)

The 7th edition of the “Day of German Economy in Belarus” took place on October 8th this year. The theme was “Skilled personnel for the economy – concepts, experience, outlooks”.
As part of the “German Economic Team Belarus” project, Robert Kirchner held a talk on the topic “The labour market in Belarus”. Kirchner presented trends, challenges and possible approaches to this prevailing topic, which was of high interest to the attendees from business, politics and education institutions.
On June 13, 2013, GET Belarus has presented the new edition of „Belarusian macroeconomic forecast„ in Minsk. For the fourth time this forecast, a joint product of German Economic Team (GET) Belarus and IPM Research Centre, was presented to the public.
Among numerous participants of the event there were the representatives of the governmental institutions and associations as well as other representatives from the business community and the press.
On April 15, 2013, the Information Session on the government advisory in Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova took place. At the well-attended event representatives of the following institutions were taking active part:
Federal Ministry of Economic and Technology ( BMWi), Federal Chancellery, Federal Foreign Office, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, German Bundestag, GIZ as well as other related foundations, associations and organizations. The experts of Berlin Economics held short presentations on the economic situation in the countries, SME sector in Belarus and the state of the Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) between the EU and Ukraine, and Moldova respectively. Their expertise as well as continuous analysis of the political and economic development processes in those three countries brought a deep insight to the governmental actions. During the discussion round a lot of questions on this matter have been raised and answered.
“Belarus and Ukraine – worth a look. In spite of everything!”
On 19 March, 2013, Robert Kirchner held a presentation “Belarus and Ukraine – worth a look. In spite of everything!” The discussion rounds, involving about 30 participants, have followed after the presentation.
The main topic was Ukrainian future: Which direction should Ukraine choose – EU or Russia? After the discussion, the Entrepreneurs’ talks have started, where such countries as Russia, Poland, Romania, Belarus and Ukraine were brought into play.
The 6th Day of the German economy, which took place on October 10, 2012 in Minsk, was devoted to the issues of small and medium enterprises. At the the 6th Day of German Industry (TDW) in Minsk, Belarus experts has presented their view on the “Small and medium enterprises”.
During the discussion rounds, a number of questions were asked concerning the institutional foundations and instruments of the SME development in Germany and Belarus.
“Possible effects of Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization on the economy of the Republic of Belarus”
On June 14, 2012, the information seminar on “Possible effects of Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization on the economy of the Republic of Belarus” took place.
The seminar was organized by the Delegation of German Economy in Belarus and the German- Belarusian Business Club for directors and employees of foreign companies operating in Belarus, JVs and representative offices, and especially for members of the German-Belarusian Economic Club. During the event, Berlin Economic Advisor presented its policy paper in different formats on “Russian WTO accession: implications for Belarus.
On May 3, 2012, GET Belarus has conducted a seminar to present its new economic forecast “Belarusian Macroeconomic Forecast”, which has revealed the main macroeconomic indicators for the years 2012/2013.(more…)
