The forthcoming ACAA between the EU and Ukraine: What to expect – Online event on April 28

On April, 28, 2021, the German Economic Team together with the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting in Kyiv (IER) and in cooperation with the German-Ukrainian Chamber for Commerce and Industry (AHK Ukraine), the German Eastern Business Association (OA), the European Business Association (EBA), the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the International Council of Business Associations and Chambers in Ukraine organised a public event on the economic implications of the forthcoming ACAA (Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products) between the EU and Ukraine.

The event consisted of five section. Firstly, Robert Kirchner, Deputy Team Leader, GET, Svetlana Mikhaylovska, Deputy Director, EBA, Mykhailo Nepran, First Vice President, Ukrainian Chamber for Commerce and Industry and Stefan K├Ągebein, Regional Director Eastern Europe, OA introduced the event with their view on the importance of ACAA.

Thereafter, Ivan Nagornyak, Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine gave a keynote speech on the political opportunities of ACAA.

Thirdly, Veronica Movchan, Academic Director, IER presented the jointly study and highlighted the economic importance of this agreement.

Following this presentation, Alexander Markus, Chairman of the Board, AHK Ukraine moderated the discussion. Thereby, Jana Herceg, Head of the Economic and Trade Section, Delegation of the EU to Ukraine, Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture as well as two business representatives, Anatoliy Pushkar, CEO, Alay LLC and Mykhailo Kotovenko, CFO, Groupe SEB Ukraine discussed the political and business dimension.

Finally, the experts and decision makers responded to questions coming from the 142 participants.

The cooperating partners were very satisfied with the event and will keep following developments of the agreement between the EU and Ukraine.
