Kyiv: Study presented on labour migration from Ukraine since 2014

On November 13, 2019, a round table on “Labor Migration from Ukraine” took place in Kyiv at the Kyiv School of Economics, jointly organized by Yuliia Mincheva, VoxConnector Editor of Vox Ukraine and the German Advisory Group. In an informal setting, around 20 representatives from think tanks, government agencies and the media met to discuss the issue of labour miration.

peakers included Prof. Hanna Vakhitova, the leading migration expert of the Kyiv School of Economics, and Olga Pogarska of the National Bank’s Research Department with Prof. Matthias Lücke of the Institute for the World Economy and Mr. David Saha, Consultant at the German Advisory Group.

The topic is seen as particularly important in Ukraine, given reports of a significant increase in emigration, particularly to Poland and the EU.. However, reliable and consistent information on the basic facts of migration and its effects on the Ukrainian economy has hardly been available so far. The lecture of Prof. Lücke, a top-class expert who also advises the Federal Government on migration issues, received a great deal of attention and was discussed intensively in plenary.
